Candle Care & Safety

Every ARA candle is hand-poured in small batches using natural soy wax and carefully selected fragrance oils. Following these simple care guidelines will help you enjoy a cleaner burn, maximise fragrance performance and extend the life of your candle.

Your First Burn

The first burn is the most important.

Allow the wax to melt evenly across the entire surface of the candle before extinguishing. This usually takes around 3–4 hours.

Doing so helps prevent tunnelling and ensures an even burn throughout the life of your candle.

Wick Care

Before each burn, trim the wick to approximately 5mm.

A properly trimmed wick helps to:

  • Produce a steady flame.
  • Reduce soot.
  • Improve fragrance performance.
  • Extend the life of your candle.

If the wick develops a mushroom-shaped tip after burning, simply trim it before lighting again.

Burn Time

For the best performance, burn your candle for no more than four hours at a time.

Allow the candle to cool completely before relighting.

Extinguishing Your Candle

Use a candle snuffer where possible or gently blow out the flame.

Avoid moving the candle until the wax has fully cooled and solidified.

General Candle Safety

For your safety, always:

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Keep away from children and pets.
  • Burn on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
  • Keep away from curtains, furniture and other flammable materials.
  • Do not burn near draughts, open windows or fans.
  • Keep the wax free from matches, wick trimmings and other debris.
  • Leave at least 10cm between burning candles.
  • Never touch or move a burning candle.
  • Stop burning when approximately 10mm of wax remains at the bottom of the jar.

Storage

Store your candle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat to preserve its fragrance and appearance.
