Our Story

Grounded in the Borders. Inspired by the Stars.

ARA Candle Co. was born from two enduring sources of inspiration: the quiet beauty of the Scottish Borders and the night sky above it.

Nestled among rolling hills, ancient woodland, winding rivers and forgotten walled gardens, the Scottish Borders has always been a place that invites you to slow down. It is a landscape rich in history, changing seasons and simple moments of stillness—qualities that continue to inspire every fragrance we create.

The name ARA is inspired by the constellation of the same name, a quiet but enduring presence in the southern night sky. Symbolising warmth, light and timelessness, it reflects the feeling we hope every candle brings into your home. Our signature constellation appears throughout our collection as a reminder that even the smallest lights can create lasting memories.

Every candle is hand-poured in small batches using natural soy wax and carefully selected fragrance oils. Rather than following trends, we create fragrances that tell a story—of places explored, changing seasons and memories made.

From the comforting warmth of Tweed & Library Oak to the wild character of Walled Garden Bramble and the gentle richness of Eildon Heather & Honey, each fragrance has been thoughtfully composed to evoke a sense of place.

Our packaging reflects the same philosophy. Forest green, textured cream paper and carefully considered details create an understated experience that feels timeless rather than extravagant. Every order is wrapped by hand, accompanied by its own fragrance card and finished with our signature antique gold wax seal, embossed with the Ara constellation—a small mark of authenticity that celebrates the inspiration behind our name and transforms every unboxing into a memorable ritual.

At ARA Candle Co., we believe luxury isn't defined by excess. It is found in thoughtful craftsmanship, meaningful design and the quiet moments that encourage us to pause.

Thank you for being part of our story.

We hope our candles bring a little of the Scottish Borders—and a little of the stars—into your home.
